This set is designed and handmade by Navajo artist, Erick Begay. It features the art of stone inlay with White Buffalo, Jet and Coral Inlay.
White Buffalo--also known as White Buffalo Turquoise--is a gemstone that is mined in northern Nevada, and sometimes Utah. It was presumed to be turquoise and often sold as such; however; its classification is magnesite and alumite.
White Buffalo is often very striking -as it contains dark brown and black matrix. It is a hard stone; equivelent to turquoise. it is rated a 5-6 on the Mohs hardness scale. Stones will vary from piece to piece.
The art of inlay is where each stone is cut, ground, and set by hand. After the stones are set into the ring, they are polished using 9 different polishing steps, starting with 100 grit sandpaper to 50,000 grit diamond powder, all to produce the highest-luster that brings out the beauty of each stone.
The ring is constructed out sterling silver and Each piece is signed by Erick Begay.
Each ring measures approximately 3/8 inch wide. They taper to approximately 1/4 inch.
