This necklace was made by Santo Domingo Pueblo artists, Raymond and Phyllis Rosetta.
Santo Domingo Pueblo is a small reservation 30 miles south of Santa Fe, NM. The Santo Domingo artist are known for their use of stones and shells, which are typically fashioned into beads. The beads are all polished and drilled by hand.
The husband and wife team are artist who sell their work at Santa Fe's Palace of the Governors. Their work is typically traditional in style; however, in some pieces they use non-traditional stones (such as lapis) which gives their work a contemporary feel.
This necklace is 24-25 inches in length. Each bead is roughly 1/8 inch thick and 1/4- 3/8 inches wide. It is made out of Purple Spiny Oyster Shell and Turquoise. It is finished with sterling silver cones, and a silver Lobster-claw clasp.
